Martyn

This chap needs no introduction to anyone who has a high tendency for innovative electronic music. Since relocating to Washington, DC, Matrijn Deykers AKA Martyn has just about covered every base when it comes to modern contemporary dance music. He started way back in 2005 releasing some of the quirkiest drum & bass on Marcus Intalex’s Revolve:R imprint as well as Play:musik & Bassbin. Give it a few years and Martyn had began to fuse the modern elements of the bass music invasion with his own weird and wonderful ideas which gave way to his debut LP ‘Great Lengths’, a foray into the dubby, deep, ambient sounds that were doing the rounds as genres merged and artists took dubstep and techno to new found plains.

The inception of his debut album on his own imprint, 3024, really set the stage for Martyn and his own electronic explorations as he has continued to warp genres and merge sounds that few can even dream about. Since his debut he has released 2 other critically acclaimed albums, ‘Ghost People’ on Fly Lo’s Brainfeeder and more recently ‘The Air Between Words’ on the UK stalwart Ninja Tune. He has a back catalogue the size of a small aircraft hanger including labels such as Ostgut Ton, NonPlus, Tectonic, Dolly Dubs and Monkeytown.

He is also the man selected to mix the very special 50th edition of the Fabric Mix DJ series. Quite an honor but then again he is a very special kind of producer also and knows how to blend different genres perfectly. Most of his own productions can lately be found on his own label , 3024, an imprint that also cultivates a lot of new talent as Trevino, Leon Vynehall, Jacques Greene & Mosca to name but a few.
